To the east of the Mount Lebanon Range stands the Bekaa Valley, bordered farther to the east by the Anti-Lebanon Mountain Range and Syria. Baalbeck is a historical site and cultural center, a site of some of the oldest Roman ruins in the world. From right to left, the Roman Odeon, the six standing columns of the peristyle of the Temple of Jupiter, and the Bacchus Temple (view larger).
