A shrine on a street corner, standing to protect Beirut and its inhabitants, a memorial of sorts.

I entered and left Beirut with only a cursory knowledge of life in Lebanon, of the people, culture, history and current issues.
But I did leave with a new frame of reference, a broader viewpoint and a greater appreciation for life. We all face issues in our lives; but our particular frames of references determine how we interpret what we see, how we deal with our environment, how we frame our goals, our ideals, our trivialities, our successes and our failures. We face different circumstances and different issues, and we decide how we want to live.
Put simply, Lebanon lives.
