It is a way of life" "I simply like to look. Taking pictures is how I remember what I see." Me Looking to explore and return to the joys of summer vacations, this summer I took three months to travel, hike, visit, enjoy, see. After one month in Mexico, and having explored a fair bit of the world outside the USA on previous trips, I decided to explore my own backyard with a little cross-country jaunt*. At first I wanted to take pictures of everything that interested me or caught my eye, which was almost everything. Turns out there are also a fair amount of people out there that wanted to see the same things as me, and after a couple of days of trying to see the tourist sights without being a tourist, I turned off the camera for a bit just to see it all in a broader perspective, to see it all unfold naturally. As I stopped trying to make pictures, turned off my mind and just let my eyes see, my vision emerged, and the pictures began to flow from my eye and not my mind. Therefore, this gallery focuses on the viewpoint of the non-tourist. How can one explore the tourist sites without being a tourist? --- * The little jaunt: 12,796 miles, 54 days, 27 states, 2 provinces, many national and state parks and thousands of pictures... -- CLICK on each picture to view LARGE -- |
