What senses do most people ignore?

Their gut.

We often forget it's even a sense, the mythical sixth sense that exists nowhere but everywhere.

That deep, dark stirring in their soul that they would prefer to forget, to ignore, to cast off as unrealistic wild dreams, temporary irrationality.

But they are meaningful, however impulsive and brief; the subconscious has only a few tools for making the conscious aware of what it's ruminating about. Why not listen, at least for a minute?

Isn't it worth it to listen to our soul?

The greater question: why do we ignore it?

Why do we not trust our gut?

Our gut doesn't listen to society, conventions, established norms, loved ones, mentors, examples or "case studies"; trusting a feeling that we can't fully describe that doesn't necessarily agree with the rest of the world is a difficult proposition.

It leaves us with destinations but not the routes; figuring out the way is where we fail, lose confidence, learn to rationalize.

And it leaves us with a clarity that can be so cut-off from the normal balanced, rational, outlined decision-making that we can't understand it; instead of black boxes, we like processes we can outline.

But it's worth it.
