On a short break for a rest while hiking in Yosemite this summer, having reached the high alpine lake that marked by turn-around point, I laid down and relaxed, taking in the scene. Having already taken a multitude of pictures that day, I decided to test my sketching ability.

Right now, I’m better at recording the scene by the camera than by hand. However, each tool still leaves so much of the experience unrecorded – the hot sun, the slight breeze, the sounds of the forest and the lake, the voracious bites of the mosquitoes, the complete sense of peace.
