Durango Hometown Hostel in Durango, Colorado: the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. And I’ve stayed at many.
Ever stayed at a hostel? Why? Why not?

I've stayed at this hostel last month and it was really great. I'm not usually a hostel lover but this one was beyond my expectations.

That's pretty wild to “run into” someone that also stayed here. Cool.
This hostel was way better than most hostels, I would come back in a heartbeat…

travel is more about the traveler's perception than reality; but the durango hometown hostel felt like a refuge; run by a great person who cares about creating a great environment for travelers, nice, clean, open spaces, little touches that it feel more like home than anything else. and, of course, I like mountain towns :)

This looks like such a cozy hostel, just like a home. So far I've only stayed in hostels located in cities, mostly in NYC and London.
This post made me think about what it is exactly that separate the great hostels from the ones you wish you hadn't stayed in.

I was thinking during my drive today that I really should elaborate more on the variety of hostels; I've stayed in way too many over the years, throughout the world.
Perhaps a future post…
