Dance to discover.

Find a cause.
Will Steacy, quoted in an interview with Jörg Colberg on Conscientious, A conversation with Will Steacy:

Sometimes a photographer is like an ancient long distance runner traveling at great depths and personal sacrifice to relay the message of his tribe to another tribe, working selflessly for a larger greater cause.

… One of the things that I love so much about photography is the act of discovery. It’s all about that dance and I’m blind baby, I don’t care who I dance with, I just want to dance.

Dance to discover.
Start dancing, shake your tree, develop your voice; find stories, knowledge and wisdom and bring them back to our own private and public spheres.

Create to engage.
Creating can start the discussion and lead to insights; comic Zach Galifianakis:

“That’s one of the great things about comedy: we can — and should — say the things that other people aren’t supposed to say. If we didn’t do that, if we didn’t push against those limits, we’d just be standing around onstage and yelling.”

If you’re in NYC, Steacy’s “Down These Mean Streets” is on view at NYU’s Gulf and Western Gallery from June 4th until August 8th.
