This year did not end up as I thought it would

Around the corner | Refugio Beach State Park, California | Dec 2008
This year did not end up as I thought it would.
Despite my constantly-updated lists of projects, what I accomplished bears little in relation to what I planned.

I started the year off by staying up all night, similar to 2007.

I came back from India planning [...]

“Questions, Answered, Again”: It’s coming, I promise

Me | Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India | Dec 2007
Back in August I announced my “Questions, Answered, Again” project. I received a lot of interesting questions, and after I made 10 selections and I then asked you to vote on which additional questions I should answer.
And then the project seemingly disappeared into my void, into my [...]

Shifting Gears

I often discard t-shirts after workouts. Sweaty, old, past their prime, knowing that they served their purpose for many years, their worthiness proven but no longer needed, I cast them away instead of taking them home to recover and re-enter the fray.
Gone, into the trash. And it feels oddly good.

Summit 2008

Summit 2008 | Nov 2008 | by Jeremy Yuricek
This weekend’s activities: Summit 2008 in NY, a meeting of the minds behind Y-Industries (Jeremy Yuricek) and Unstructured Ventures (Taylor Davidson).
Jeremy’ s help and encouragement is the reason I first launched this website back in 2002 (originally as the defunct davidson2016.org), only to see it grow over [...]

Questions, Answered, Again: It’s time to Vote

I hope everyone isn’t expecting this announcement to be the finished “Questions, Answered, Again” photography project… click here to skip the explanation and vote right away.
I received a number of questions from people from my call for questions, and as expected, I’m impressed with the variety and range of thoughts.
As I mentioned when I announced [...]

Extending the “Questions, Answered, Again” deadline to Labor Day Weekend

On August 5th I launched my newest photography collaboration project, “Questions, Answered, Again”, and set the deadline for August 22nd for all submittals.
I’ve received some really interesting (and tough) questions. But I know there are some good ones still out there, sitting in your minds, just waiting to be asked. So I’ve extended [...]

Ask me Questions: Your chance to Participate

Taylor Davidson | Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India | Jan 2008
Questions, Answered, Again
As some of you may know, back in the fall of 2006 I asked my friends to email me questions they’d like me to answer. No limits to the types of questions (although I maintained the right to select which ones I wanted [...]

Creating businesses can be fun

I went down to Raleigh, North Carolina this past Friday afternoon not entirely sure of what to expect. I returned home late, late Sunday night on a high. Why?
I came to RTP Startup Weekend with the simple goal of meeting interesting people with similar interests in life and business, more interested in the [...]

Bifurcating

In an effort to split out a couple of different interests, going forward, this site will remain focused on photography, travel and cultural musings, and all business, entrepreneurship and innovation thoughts will be posted at Unstructured Thoughts.
I considered automatically subscribing everyone to Unstructured Thoughts, but decided it was more fair to give people the opportunity [...]

Lebanon

The Corniche, Beirut, Lebanon
As many of you know, I recently went to Lebanon to go to my good friend’s wedding, see old friends, make new friends, learn a bit about the country and its people, and have a fabulous time. Impossible to describe, impossible to capture. And I didn’t do the life and [...]
